Small Red beans are a deep reddish brown color and are sometimes referred to as Mexican red beans. They are similar to a Dark Red Kidney, but smaller. Small reds are used most often in soups, salads, chili and Creole dishes. Michigan, Idaho and Washington are the predominant small red production states.
